Marco Rubio

Florida State Senator

Key Issues:

  • Education: Rubio is against Common Core, believing that it "coerce(s) states into adhering to national curriculum standards." He believes the best approach to education is to take advantage of parents, local communities and individual states.

  • Healthcare: Rubio is working to repeal Obamacare labeling it as "a failed law that is hurting Floridians." The consequences of the law as he states are"[skyrocketing] Premiums,... [higher] taxes, and small businesses ... [are] struggling with the law’s confusing rules and regulations." His plan for reform includes giving to all Americans a refundable tax credit for the purchase of insurance, expanding FSAs and HSAs, and "giving states a per-capita block grant, which preserves funding for Medicaid’s unique populations while freeing states from Washington mandates."

  • Immigration: Marco Rubio is a advocate for stronger borders and immigration laws. His priorities in this issue include "[Eliminating] federal funding for sanctuary cities,[Deporting]...criminal illegal aliens, hir[ing]20,000 new Border Patrol agents,...[Finishing] all 700 miles of walls on our southern border, [and installing] $4 billion in new cameras and sensors on the border.
